The company said its Icon Offshore Group unit had secured the two-year contract with a one-year extension option for the provision of marine vessels in the categories of anchor-handling tug/supply vessel, straight supply vessel, platform supply vessel, utility vessel, workboat and work barge. No contract value was provided as the services will be provided on a spot basis but Icon expects the contract to boost its order book while providing some stability amid the current market weakness.

“The contract is a significant achievement for us, as it has only been awarded to 21 players in the sector, which make up approximately 20% of the contractors operating in the Malaysian industry,” said Icon Offshore ceo Jamal Yusof.

“This will ensure that for the next three years, including the one-year option period, all spot contracts from Petronas will only be awarded to these 21 players.”
