The design, unveiled at  Renewable UK 2013 Wave and Tidal event, in London, will operate using dynamic positioning in currents of up to 10 knots, and will be used to install foundations, cables, subsea connectors and turbines in varying and adverse weather conditions. The vessel’s twin hulls are powered by four Voith-Schneider propulsion units.

Mojo indicates that the vessel is capable of complete installation of 50 turbines per year, equating to 70MW of capacity.

The UK currently derives just under 10% of its power from tidal energy, with government plans to bring this figure up to 20% by the year 2020.
