Vard bags order to build AHTS vessel for Bourbon

Vard Holdings has bagged an order to design and build one arctic anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessel for Bourbon.

The AHTS vessel will be operated by Bourbon Offshore Norway and is scheduled for delivery from Vard Brattvaag in Norway in the first quarter of 2016. The hull of the vessel will be delivered from Vard Tulcea in Romania.

Financial details of the contract were not disclosed.

Vard, a designer and shipbuilder of offshore and specialised vessels, said the AHTS vessel will be equipped with remote operating vehicle (ROV) as well as hybrid propulsion system providing energy savings.

Vard has in the past delivered another seven high specification vessels to Bourbon.
