Bulker Master injured in Malacca Strait attempted sea robbery
The Master of a Marshall Islands-flagged bulker was injured by sea robbers when the vessel was boarded in the Malacca Strait.

The incident took place in the Malacca Strait in the early hours of 27 October when the bulker was enroute to Singapore, but outside Singapore waters, according to a statement from the Maritime & Port Authority of Singapore (MPA).
“The shipmaster who was hurt in the incident is reported to be in stable condition and has been conveyed ashore to seek medical treatment,” the authority said.
No further details of the attack were given, but if armed the perpatrators of such incidents in the Straits are usually carrying knives.
The MPA said the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) was alerted to the alleged robbery at 4-30am on 27 October.
“MRCC had directed the vessel to anchor off the western part of Singapore to facilitate a search by the Police Coast Guard. The search has been completed onboard and nothing was reported missing,” MPA said.
