The upgraded WACT terminal features expanded yard space that has almost doubled. Improved security is provided through access control systems and CCTV.

Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima commented during the inauguration that “APM Terminals’ investment in WACT is a clear sign of the company's strong commitment to developing ports that are a lifeline to global trade.

“Nigeria will continue collaborating with APM Terminals in the long term to create an environment where businesses participating in global trade can thrive,” he added.

The upgraded terminal also features a 1MW solar power generation facility as APM Terminals looks to reduce carbon emissions from port operations.

“As Africa's largest economy and most populous nation, Nigeria stands on the brink of remarkable growth," said Olaf Gelhausen, Chief Operating Officer of APM Terminals.

“We're enhancing capacity, redefining customer experience, and forging stronger partnerships with the Nigerian government to lift global trade.”

APM Terminals has two container terminals in Nigeria, in Lagos and Onne handling about half of the containers going in and out of Nigeria.
