Beibu Gulf fastest growing container port in China last year

China’s Beibu Gulf Port posted a container throughput of 5.05m teu in 2020, an increase of 32.23% year-on-year, making it to be the top coastal port achieving the fastest growth rate in China.

The cargo throughput of Beibu Gulf port was 238m tons, an increase of 16.21% year-on-year.

As the end of last year, Beibu Gulf port operated 52 container shipping services, including 28 foreign trade services, covering the major regions in Southeast Asia and Northeast Asia.

To further improve port handling capacity, Beibu Gulf Port is planning to issue CNY3bn($461) convertible bonds to purchase terminal and berth assets at Qinzhou port and Fangcheng port.

Beibu Gulf Port aims to complete 265m tons cargo throughput and 6m teu container volume in 2021.
