Beijing Gas gets green light for LNG project in Tianjin

Beijing Gas Group Company has been given approval by China’s National Development and Reform Commission on LNG project in Tianjin Nangang.

The project, located at Nangang industrial area, Binhai new district, Tianjin, mainly comprises three parts of receiving station, the berth and the outbound pipeline, including ten 200,000 cu m LNG storage tanks, and site reserved for further construction of two 200,000 cu m LNG storage tanks; one LNG unloading berth with a designed capacity of 5m tons per year and a new 229 km outbound pipeline with a designed transmission capacity of 4.5bn cu m per year.

The first phase of the construction, which is expected to complete by the end of 2022, will include one LNG unloading pier, one LNG carrier berth, four storage tanks and outbound pipeline. The second phase, which is expected to complete by the end of 2023, will include four storage tanks. While the third phase, which is expected to complete by the end of 2024, will include two storage tanks.

The total investment cost of the project is approximately RMB20.13bn ($2.85bn). Beijing Gas is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Beijing Enterprises Holdings

Beijing Gas also intends to establish an independent company to carry out the investment in, and the construction and operation of the Tianjin Nangang LNG project.
