The activities are due to commence in the third quarter of 2019 and are expected to be completed in the third quarter 2020.

The North Manama Causeway forms part of the Ministry of Works strategic plan to improve the existing road network by developing new road corridors to support the rapidly expanding economy of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

As part of this programme, Boskalis will reclaim an area of approximately 130 hectares with an estimated volume of six million cubic metres of sand using two medium-sized trailing suction hopper dredgers. Furthermore, the construction includes rock revetment work for edge protection.
