Boskalis has been awarded two infrastructure projects in the Netherlands with a total contract value of around $91m to build an inland port.

Work will begin in early 2021 with a completion time of approximately two and half years. Boskalis expects to reduce its CO2 emissions by more than 50% on these projects through the use of a sustainable biofuel

The company will develop the port in the town of Spijk on behalf of Rijkswaterstaat. The facility is located on the river Waal near the German border. The port is intended for inland waterway vessels and will increase capacity, safety and accessibility. For this project, approximately 3m cu m of soil will be moved by a small suction cutter dredge and other earth-moving equipment.

In addition, Boskalis will redesign the N241 provincial road in the north of the Netherlands. This contract was awarded by the province of Noord-Holland and PWN and includes the extension of the road and further improvements related to road safety. The structure of this project includes a planning development phase and an implementation phase with an expected completion date of the end of 2024.
