Container volume at major Chinese ports up 2.3% in early June

Container volume growth rate at eight major Chinese ports was slowing and posted a small increase of 2.3% in early June.

According to statistics released by China Ports and Harbors Association, export container volume dropped 1.6% mainly caused by the Covid-19 cases founded at Shenzhen port. The domestic volume increased 15.2%.

Among the ports Tianjin posted a growth rate of over 30%.

Cargo throughput at major coastal hub ports increased 4.4% year-on-year while the international trade cargo throughput increased 10.5%.

Crude oil shipments at major coastal ports dropped 0.8% year-on-year. Port inventory increased 7.2%.

Metal ore shipments at major Chinese ports increased 11.2% while the port inventory increased 14.8%.

In early June, cargo throughput and container volume at three major Yangtze river ports, Nanjing, Wuhan and Chongqing, increased 18.7% and 7.7% year-on-year, respectively.
