Invested in and built by Cosco Shipping Ports, Chancay Port Terminal is located approximately 60 km north of the Peruvian capital of Lima. With a draft depth of 16-18 meters, the new deepwater port will have a designed annual handling capacity of 1 million  teu, and be able to accommodate containerships up to 14,000 teu

In the future capacity can be extended to handle 24,000 teu capacity vessels.

The first phase project sees the construction of four operational berths, including two container berths and two multi-purpose berths, with trial operation phase between November 2023 and May 2024.

Once the commercial operation of the port has started, it can reduce the shipping transfer time between Peru and China from 35-40 days to 23 days, with the aim to  become an international transit hub port in South America.
