DP World Chile has managed to reduce emissions at its San Antonio and Lirquén port terminals by 50% and 30%, respectively.

It also marked the renewal of the first certification of 100% renewable energy use for a port operator in South America.

In this context, Mauricio Argandoña, Engineering and Projects Manager, explained that "the emissions of our terminals dropped 50% in San Antonio and 30% in Lirquén, which assures exporters, importers and shipping lines that DP World Chile guarantees a reduction in the carbon footprint of its products and services".

Carla Baraybar, Health, Safety and Environment Manager of DP World Chile, commented that "DP World Chile, through its terminals DP World San Antonio and DP World Lirquén, renewed its certification as the first port operator in South America to use 100% renewable energy, confirming DP World's global commitment to be carbon neutral by 2050 and its leadership as a sustainable logistics operator".

"The use of 100% renewable energy, the reduction of fossil fuels in our operations, maximizing efficiency and proactively incorporating innovative technologies are allowing us to reduce the carbon footprint of Chile's international trade, with a direct benefit to our customers and their consumers," he added.

In addition to the above, DP World's terminals in Chile are leading the unloading of equipment for new wind projects in the country, positioning itself as the main logistics operator in Chilean territory.

"In the last two years, we have safely supplied more than 11 wind projects, with almost 300 towers, 76-meter blades and components weighing more than 95 tons. We clearly have a vocation for the use and development of renewable energies," said Argandoña.

This recognition was given to DP World Chile by the energy company Colbún and certified by EY.
