It has been raining heavily in the Panama Canal watershed recently, leading Canal authorities to reconsider the maximum authorised draught for the vessels transiting the new neo-panamax locks as the levels of Gatun Lake are rising.
Effective immediately, and until further notice, the maximum authorised draught allowed for vessels transiting the neo-panamax locks will be 13.72m (45.0 feet) TFW.
The ACP will continue to closely monitor the level of Gatun Lake in order to announce future draft adjustments in a timely manner.
