China’s southern port of Fuzhou has completed construction of two berths at Songxia port area.

The project includes one 50,000 tonnes-class (available for vessel up to 100,000 tonnes-class) bulk cargo berth and one 5,000 (available for vessel up to 20,000 tonnes-class) general cargo berth. The annual handling design capacity of the project is 2.8m tons.

The delivery of the berth project could improve port facility and cargo throughput of Fuzhou port, optimize port structure and support the development of local industrial companies.

Songxia port area is planning to develop Niutouwan area and construct several new berths for container cargo transportation.

Fuzhou port, a major port operator in Fujian province, posted 116m in cargo throughput and 3.2m teu in container volumes in 2019. The port currently operates nearly 30 berths above the 10,000 tonnes-class.
