The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) said the port will cutback crane activity and truck turnaround times at the port as part of its drive to cut energy use by 15%.

"Through a 33% decrease in average yard crane moves for every imported container that requires manual inspection as well as a 17% reduction in truck turnaround times, the port further solidifies its standing as a cost-competitive and operationally-efficient logistics destination at the crossroads of East-West trade," said Mawani.

The port's efforts are inline with the Kingdom's Saudi Green Initiative; JIP earned Port of the Year Award at the Green Shipping Summit 2023.

JIP and other terminals across Saudi Arabia have signed multiple new routes to connect the ports to other hubs within the Middle East and to other continents. Jeddah was listed in DP World's annual results for 2022 as returning a solid performance in 2022.
