The Maersk Tigris has been released according to a report from an Iranian news agency, however, Maersk Line says it is unable to confirm it.

The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) quoted an unnamed source from the Iran Ports and Maritime Organization as saying the vessel had been released. It said further details would be available later.

However, a spokesman for Maersk told Seatrade Global the company was not able to confirm the report.

On Wednesday Maersk said it had provided a letter of undertaking relating to the underlying cargo case.

The vessel, time chartered to Maersk was seized on 28 April over a 10-year old court case with Iran’s Pars Tala'eyeh Oil Products Co, which on appeal Maersk had been ordered to pay $3.6m in compensation.
