Naypyidaw: AP Moller-Maersk Group units Maersk Line and MCC Transport have announced that they plan to open a branch office in Myanmar following the suspension of EU and US trade sanction last year.

The office is scheduled to be opened in the second half of 2013.

Maersk has operated in Myanmar for around 20 years through a third party agent Win Universe Limited. They now have four sailings a week departing from Yangon.

“Myanmar is the last untapped market in Southeast Asia. It has significant natural resources, a large population and is strategically located between two of the world’s largest economies, India and China,” the company said in a statement.
