Major Chinese ports container volume up 4.1% in early December

Container volume at eight major Chinese ports increased 4.1% year-on-year in early December.

Export container volume increased 2.5%, while domestic volumes were up 8.8% in early December. Fastest growing the port of Tianjin posted an increase of over 30%.

Cargo throughput at major coastal hub ports increased 7% year on year while international trade cargo throughput up 10.3%.

Growth rate for crude oil shipments at major coastal ports was 26.8% year on year. The port of Yantai and Rizhao both posted a growth rate of over 50%. Port inventory increased 2.9%.

Metal ore shipments at major Chinese ports increased 25.4% while the port inventory increased 30.7%. The port of Rizhao posted a growth rate of over 70%.

In early December, cargo throughput and container volume at three major Yangtze river port, Nanjing, Wuhan and Chongqing dropped 13.7% and 13.5% year on year, respectively.
