MARCH BLOG - 2021 Outlook for TOC Events Worldwide

Paul Holloway TOC Blog.png

It is an incredible 15 months since we last brought the industry together physically to learn, debate and network at a TOC Event. How time flies. Digital products are now a way for us to engage with the market and deliver our content whilst also keeping the industry connected as we eagerly await the return of live events. TOC is now a content provider and not just a live event organiser. We have evolved.

Our stakeholders now have a variety of options when considering how to reach their customers. It is therefore our job to create compelling journey for them, with limited but high-quality digital services that stretch way beyond just webinars. TOC must also stand above the ‘noise’ of the new digital landscape and continue to offer best in class editorial and networking opportunities. We aim to do this by offering a menu of services that span across the year and are not just concentrated into the live meetings. You will see that TOC now offers multiple channels to reach into our communities including blogs, whitepapers, podcasts, interviews, virtual, hybrid and live experiences and more.

This journey is named ‘The Road To Rotterdam’ as the content and opportunities we are offering this year are crafted around a narrative designed to lead the market back to live events, namely our flag ship show TOC EUROPE. Market feedback has been very clear ‘we want to meet face to face again and soon!’.

The Road to Rotterdam will be based around 7 major content pillars: Automation, Digital Transformation, Standards, The Green Transition, Port Watch, Market Intelligence and Port Operations, Shaping the New Normal.

The event has moved from its usual birthing slot of June (we will be back in June in 2022) and now look forward, more than ever, to welcoming the industry back for a live event from 7-9 September. Naturally there will be an extensive set of measures put in place to ensure our customers feel safe and the show may look a little different, but we are planning ahead for the return of TOC EUROPE which will include a virtual overlay.

Of course we are monitoring the situation regarding COVID and will always be totally open with our customers. There will be an update on this event at the end of April via our next newsletter. Soon to be announced are details of a ‘hybrid’ approach to this show, enabling those who can not attend to take part virtually and adding value to exhibitors who will get the opportunity to connect with a totally new audience. Watch this space.

Before this, and in partnership with PSA and the MPA, TOC are pleased to announce a series of digital products that will spread over 4 days during Singapore Maritime week, the programme is now ready (and pretty good) so take a look at TOC Asia.

Our newest and most exciting addition to the TOC family is the ‘TOC GLOBAL SHOWCASE’ – a 3 week virtual networking experience packed with interviews, content and a few extras taking place from 31 May to 18 June 2021. There are numerous ways to take part so please do check it out at TOC Global Showcase.

This is the first major pit stop on ‘The Road to Rotterdam’ and some of the content will be repurposed for the live event so ‘fuel up’ on the amazing content on offer which will give you a taster of what’s to come in September.

We are still pressing on with our plans to run TOC AMERICAS in October and a market briefing event in Dubai in December alongside the EXPO 2021. So please do keep an eye on our websites for further details and updates. Both will contain a digital overlay. Also, one to look out for is a brand new project taking place in AFRICA in 2022, one not to be missed.

Thanks to those of you for reading to the end! Just to say we are here for the market, as ever, keeping you connected and informed. We will always be up front with our plans and provide ample advance notice of any developments, of that you can be sure. Please do reach out to me and the team to provide feedback and suggestions that may help shape your events.

See you soon…
