Ningbo-Zhoushan port box volumes grow 3.2% in Q1

Ningbo-Zhoushan port posted a container volume of 3.18m teu in March, an increase of 4% year-on-year.

Overall cargo throughput was 85.51m tons, registering a small decline of 0.3%. 

During the first quarter of 2022, Ningbo-Zhoushan port expects to handle a container volume of 9.53m teu, an increase of 3.2%, while the cargo throughput is 257.52m tons, an increase of 3.7%.

The port maintained efficient operation amid recent Covid-pandemic outbreaks in several Chinese port cities. During 1-3 April, average daily container handling volume of Ningbo-Zhoushan port exceeded 100,000 teu, surpassing the level of the same period of last year. 

On 2 April the port handled 131,000 teu, hitting a record high this year. 

Currently, the average vessel handling efficiency at Ningbo-Zhoushan port is at normal level.
