Ningbo-Zhoushan Port plans to acquire stake in Jiangyin Sunan International Container Terminal to expand its footprint along Yangtze river.

The port is to acquire a 40% stake from Paul Y. Corporation Limited and it will become the biggest shareholder of Jiangyin Sunan International Container Terminal Company when the deal completed.

Jiangyin Sunan International Container Terminal currently operates the No.3 terminal at Jiangyin, Jiangsu province, including one 10,000 tonnes-class berth, one 20,000 tonnes-class berth and one 30,000 tonnes-class berths.

The acquisition is an important move for the company to develop Yangtze river delta and river-sea combined transportation. Upon the completion, the company will be able to strengthen its business layout in Yangtze river ports and improve the competitiveness, said Ningbo-Zhoushan Port.

For the first three quarters of 2019, Ningbo-Zhoushan port handled 21.26m containers. The container throughput of the port has exceeded last year’s total volume as of today, with more than 26.35m teu handled.
