The local governments of Ningbo and Zhoushan have jointly issued guideline to further promote Ningbo-Zhoushan port integration and development.

The two Chinese cities will focus on the integration of port construction, port traffic, ship management, port supervision and shipping services.

Ningbo and Zhoushan will work on the development of river-sea combined transportation service center, expanding direct river-sea transportation market, promoting river-seal public information platform application, enlarging ship fleet, and optimizing logistics chain.

Additionally, the two cities will also develop the petrochemical project locally and support related infrastructure construction.

Ningbo Port Company and Zhoushan Port Company were established in 2008 and 2011 respectively. The two ports started the merger process in 2005 and officially established the Ningbo-Zhoushan Port Group in 2015.
