Ningbo-Zhoushan port maintains operations amid Covid outbreak
Ningbo-Zhoushan port has remained operational after the first covid-infection was found in the Beilun district, Ningbo.
The infection was the first to be reported in the area where the port is located during the latest wave to hit the Chinese coastal city.
“The port’s production is stable and containership’ berthing and operation is normal,” said Ningbo-Zhoushan port.
To provide an effective service for truck drivers, Ningbo-Zhoushan port is offering closed-loop access for container trucks in and out container port areas, said Ningbo-Zhoushan port.
During the Covid-outbreak, the port is offering empty container pick-up service in port areas to avoid yard limitations off the port.
Beilun district, where several container terminals of Ningbo-Zhoushan port are located at, had upgraded its epidemic-management level on 16 October. The city has reported 43 infections in the latest wave of Covid-pandemic by the end of 17 October.
China is continuing to maintain its zero-Covid policy with strict lockdowns enforced for numbers of cases that would be seen as very low in most countries now. At the weekend Chinese President Xi Jinping defended the zero-Covid in a speech to the Communist Party Congress and showed no signs of moving from the policy.
