Sea-rail container volume at China’s Ningbo-Zhoushan port has surpassed 1 million teu in volume to date this year, an increase of 8.6% year-on-year.

Currently, Ningbo-Zhoushan port is running over 100 sea-rail services to 16 provinces across China The enhanced cooperation with hinterland cities greatly improves the sea-rail combined transported volume of the port. 

In the first half, Ningbo-Zhoushan port posted a container volume of 17.68m teu, growing 1.2% year-on-year. The sea-rail container throughput accounted for about 5% of total volume at the port. 

To improve container handling capacity, Ningbo-Zhoushan port temporarily opened up the No.9 berth for foreign trading, a 150,000 tonnes-class container berth which could berth boxships up to 200,000 tonnes-class, at Meishan port area this month.
