Brazil's Minister of Ports and Airports, Filho, has announced that the auction for STS10, a new container terminal at the Port of Santos would take place between October and November this year.

With an estimated investment of $740 million, the project aims to expand the current container handling capacity at the Port of Santos, which already houses terminals such as Santos Brasil, APM Terminals Brasil Terminal Portuário, DP World, and Ecoporto.

The government-approved model includes the construction of four berths, enabling a 50% increase in container handling capacity.

Currently, the Port of Santos handles approximately 6 million teu annually. Once the new terminal becomes operational, this capacity will rise to 9 million teu.

For the final two years of the current administration, the Ministry plans to conduct 37 additional port area auctions. This year, private sector investments in the port sector are expected to total $298 million, compared to $175 million last year.
