SIPG and Jiangsu to jointly develop Tongzhou Bay

Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG), Jiangsu Port Group and Nantong Municipal Government have signed strategic co-operation frame agreement to jointly construct and develop Tongzhou Bay.

Tongzhou Bay, located at Nantong, Jiangsu province, plans to construct thirty 50,000 tonnes-class berths and eighty-six berths of 100,000 tonnes-class. Its container handling capacity is expected reach 20m teu while the general and bulk cargo handling capacity will reach 150m tons.

The project is a key move in integrated development of Yangtze river delta region initiated by central government, that aims to provide better and higher quality transportation services.

According to the agreement, SIPG and Shanghai municipal transportation authority will fully support the planning, investment, construction, operation and management of Tongzhou bay, as well as the construction of logistics park, and develop it to be a major port area for Shanghai international shipping hub.

The initial project at Lvsi container operation area will start construction late June to build four 100,000 tonnes-class berths, which is scheduled to begin operation at the end of 2021.
