The new joint venture will promote integrated operation of container business at Lianyungang, and aims to enhance ship agency and container freight forwarder services between Lianyungang port and Shanghai port.

At the opening ceremony, the two parties also inked “Digital corridor cooperation memorandum of understanding” to work together on information interaction and date sharing.

“Shanghai port will continue to cooperate with Lianyungang port to open up more container services and optimize shipping and logistics services,” said Wang Haijian, deputy president of SIPG.

In the coming days, Shanghai port is going to bring part of its shipping and logistics resources to Lianyungang port for providing completed logistics services to import and export companies and further reducing logistics costs.

Since Lianyungang port and SIPG inked strategic cooperation agreement in 2021, ten new services had been opened up at Lianyungang.
