Container volume for Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG) has already surpassed 40m teu in 2020.

It is the fourth consecutive year of the port posting over 40m teu container throughput since the first time in 2017.

Amid the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic this year, Shanghai port maintained fast growth in container throughput and accelerated its development of intelligent port systems. On 30 July this year, SIPG handled a container volume of 149,565 teu, representing a record single-day high.

The automated terminal at Yangshan port made a significant contribution on cargo handling and helped the port to strengthen its position as the world’s busiest container port.
