Shoreside power for vessels calling at the Port of Oslo was inaugurated on Tuesday and the Stena Saga ferry will now be connecting to the electricity grid during in port calls. The Stena Saga is one of 14 out of Stena Lines 38 that connect to shoreside power while in port.

“The completion of yet another onshore power supply connection in the Port of Oslo is an important milestone in our efforts to reduce emissions and we are now closing in on our target of connecting 25 % of our terminals in 2020. Many of our vessels call at locations close to cities which makes it especially important to be able to shut down engines when docked,” said Erik Lewenhaupt, head of sustainability, brand and communication for Stena Line.

The connection to the onshore power connection at Oslo power is expected to save slightly over 1,400 tonnes of fuel every year.
