The Port of Vancouver said marine terminals remained operational despite the severe flooding metropolitan Vancouver, however there were heightened vessel delays and anchorage demand due to disrupted terminal operations.
Both CN and CP rail links out of the city are closed. “Both CN and CP crews are clearing debris and conducting repairs at multiple sites with progress being made in restoring some impacted rail sections. A timeline for fully restored rail operations to the west coast is currently unavailable,” the Port of Vancouver said in an update.
Hapag-Lloyd said in customer advisory that all CP Rail ramps continued to accept export reefers although this was subject to review and could change.
All main highways into the Vancouver metropolitan area are closed and traffic is not expected to resume for another two to three days.
The Port of Prince Rupert said it remained fully operational and that it was “not experiencing any impact to port or rail operations related to the extreme weather events in southern British Columbia”.
