ZIM launches first ro-ro service to South America from Nansha port

Container line ZIM is launching its first ro-ro service from the Chinese port of Nansha , Guangzhou to South America.

The new service is the fifth shipping company to run international ro-ro service at Nansha following K-Line, NYK, MOL and Anji Shipping. 

ZIM is deploying the vessel NOCC Oceanic for the direct service between Guangzhou and Chile. Each voyage will be less than 30 days. 

In the first quarter of 2022, Guangzhou port posted an automobile handling volume of 407,000 units, an increase of 5.7% year-on-year. Export automobile volume was 37,000 units, a growth rate of over 70%.

With the completion of new terminal projects, Guangzhou will have eleven 10,000 tonnes-class ro-ro berths and over 2 million sq m vehicle yards for automobile transportation this year.
