Construction begins on first LNG terminal at Lianyungang

Construction has kicked off at the Jiangsu Huadian Ganyu LNG receiving station project in Lianyungang, Jiangsu province, which will build the first LNG terminal in Lianyungang.

Located at Ganyu port area of Lianyungang, the terminal project includes one new 150,000 tonnes-class LNG berth which could accommodate LNG carriers up to 217,000 cu m, three 220,000 cu m LNG storage tanks and a 24.7 km pipeline, which is expected to commence operation in November 2027. 

Jiangsu Huadian Ganyu LNG project, jointly developed by Chinese power company Dongfang Huadian, Lianyungang Port, South Korea’s private LNG service provider SK E&S, oil and gas company BP and Japan’s largest power generation company JERA, which can deliver and transport around 4.2bn cu m LNG per year. 

Upon delivery, the project will attract more LNG shipping resources to Lianyungang port and improve LNG supply to Yangtze river delta regions, said Lianyungang port.
