The fast-expanding Chinese container service provider, Zhonggu Shipping, and Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG) are planning to jointly promote port and shipping business.

The two parties have agreed to push forward the development of Yangtze River economic belt and canal.

“Along with the promotion of Zhonggu’s ‘Bigger vessel’ strategy, we are expecting to further expand collaboration with Zhonggu and jointly boost the high-quality development of port and shipping, as well as the construction of Shanghai international shipping centre,” said Gu Jinshan, chairman of SIPG.

“We can enlarge areas of our cooperation on bulk-to-container, container shipping and related services to achieve mutual benefit and win-win result,” said Lu Zongjun, chairman of Zhonggu Shipping.

Zhonggu is actively seeking to enhance cooperation relationship with several domestic port operators. The group has inked cooperation agreements with Fujian Port Group and Anhui Port and Shipping Group in the recent month.
