The Singapore Maritime Foundation (SMF) has announced that Tan Beng Tee, currently assistant chief executive (development) of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), will take over the role of executive director of SMF.

Kenneth Chia is the current executive director of SMF and he will step down for Tan to take over from 1 January 2021.

“We are very grateful to Kenneth for his leadership of SMF during the past three years,” said Andreas Sohmen-Pao, chairman of SMF.

“Kenneth has expanded our broad range of activities in the areas of talent development and maritime community building. He has strengthened the work of the Maritime Singapore Connect Office, which connects jobseekers with employers; he has helped in the rejuvenation of the Singapore Chamber of Maritime Arbitration; and he has overseen new initiatives like the Circle of HR Innovators, while managing the challenges of Covid-19 this year.  We wish him well in his next endeavours,” Sohmen-Pao said.

“We look forward to welcoming Beng Tee, who has been instrumental in shaping Maritime Singapore into what it is today and will now lead SMF in the next chapter including our work on maritime decarbonisation,” he added.
