Chinese international ship registry Yangpu now has over 10m dwt of vessels on its books.

On 1 June 2020, Beijing issued the plan to develop the free trade port in Hainan and establish Hainan free trade port international ship registration center in Yangpu.

To date, there are over 400 shipping companies established in Yangpu. With the delivery of the latest bulk carrier built for Hainan Jiahua Logistics Company, the registered vessels tonnage of Yangpu reached 10.04m dwt.

“As the continued expansion of vessel-related businesses, Yangpu is going to attract more industry players for vessel management, financial and insurance services, ship survey and consultation services,” according to an official from shipping department of Yangpu.

The implementation of the preferential tax policies at Yangpu strongly supports the shipping business development, promoting the operation of 39 international and domestic shipping services from the port.

In the first quarter of this year, Yangpu port posted a container volume of 403,300 teu, an increase of 61.48% year-on-year.
