US designates Anji Shipping as a controlled carrier

Chinese car carrier operator Anji Shipping is the sixth company to be added the US Federal Maritime Commission’s controlled carrier list.

The FMC’s controlled carrier list cover ocean carriers serving the US market whose assets are directly or indirectly owned or controlled by a foreign government and are subject to enhanced regulatory oversight.

Anji Shipping operates ro-ro and car carrier services from China and was founded by Chinese car manufacturer SAIC Automotive.

Anji Shipping joins four other Chinese companies on the list which are, Cosco Shipping Lines, Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL), OOCL (Europe), and Hede (Hong Kong) International Shipping. The other controlled carrier is HMM of South Korea.
