Lysblink Seaways refloated, salvage operations underway

DFDS general cargo vessel Lysblink Seaways, which ran aground off Western Scotland, has self-floated and is now at anchor close to the grounding site, according to the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA).

A Svitzer Salvage team and two salvage vessels are currently assessing the extent of the damage, and absorbent booms have been put in place after a small diesel oil leak was discovered from the vessel. The vessel’s crew, none of whom were injured, have remained on board.

The 120m-long vessel was en route from Belfast to Skogn in Norway when it grounded near Ardnamurchan Point early Wednesday morning, after getting into difficulty at Kilchoan at 02:00 Wednesday.
