AWT launches SmartWatch performance management
Applied Weather Technologies (AWT) has announced its latest service, SmartWatch, enabling ship managers to record ship performance information using noon and import reports.
The system is offered whether or not AWT is supplying routing information for the client. “You don’t have to route with us,” explains Richard Brown AWT vp of products and systems.
Because the system does not require additional hardware, and makes use of existing reporting systems, there are no upfront costs. Brown explains: “You’re not using a lot more data, so it doesn’t have to cost a lot of extra money.”
Once captured using AWT’s Data Reporting System (DRS2) and stored in a separate events database, the data can be checked for errors on board, using AWT’s alarm system and data editor. SmartWatch provides a framework with which owners can analyse their performance according to various pre-configured KPIs. While the system can be used to compare sisterships within a single fleet, efficiency figures can be compared with anonymous data for the rest of AWT’s client fleet.
