The deal would cover installation and maintenance of Evoqua’s SeaCURE BWMS, one of a handful of systems to have won acceptance by the US coastguard Alternative Management System (AMS) programme in fresh, brackish and full saline water. It is an electrochlorination system, siphoning off some of the ballast uptake and treating it with electrolysis to form a biocide, killing off micro-organisms in the mix.

The collaboration will ensure shipowners and operators received “guaranteed short response times and, ultimately, compliance with ballast water rules for the vessel’s lifetime,” said Matt Granitto, business manager for Evoqua’s ballast water business. “It is of vital importance to us that our SeaCURE BWMS is backed up by the very best field service and support – combined with our technology know-how --  and Drew Marine will help us deliver this across the globe.”

The arrangement follows similar team-ups such as that of Optimarin and Goltens, late last year.

The latest deal, due to be inked on stand N3G61 at 2pm on December 2, is of added significance given the expected announcement this week of the IMO’s BWM Convention entry into force in late 2016.
