A joint venture between buyout group Apollo Global Management and Rickmers Group has acquired six used, reefer boxships from Hamburg Süd for a combined $176m.

Following the deal, the jv has chartered the six 54,000 dwt panamax reefer container vessels back to Hamburg Süd over a three-year period.

The vessels will be operated predominantly on North-South trading routes.
