Bertram’s Rickmers Holdings and Erck’s ER Capital Holdings said they had signed a declaration of intent to merge their ship management units Rickmers Maritime Services and ER Schiffahrt in a global joint venture.

The merged entity would manage around 220 vessels.

“The aim is to pool strengths in a highly competitive market to further promote expansion of the ship management business and increase the new company’s capabilities,” ER Capital said in a statement.

It said the review process would take several weeks.
