Thor arms itself with BASSnet

Oslo-based BASS arrives at SMM on the back of a prestigious contract to supply its full integrated software suite BASSnet Fleet Management Systems to Thor Offshore, the Faroe Islands-based offshore and fisheries operator, for use across Thor’s global fleet of 29 vessels and shore-based organisation.

The BASSnet suite includes planned maintenance, procurement, crew management, safety- and risk-management projects, as well as management dashboard with KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) to ensure fleet operations are carried out with maximum efficiency.

Thor chose BASSnet after a competitive evaluation of several competing systems, and will use it to support fleet expansion. “Our evaluation considered the crucial need to keep top management informed on their vessels operations via reporting across the fleet, the company and different departments,” said Thor md Gunnbjørn Joensen.

‘The BASS concept of developing one complete solution that integrates all aspects of maritime operations makes good sense to us,” added Thor’s strategic purchasing manager John Eikholm, with the company expecting to achieve increased efficiency and significant cost savings as a result of streamlined operations.

BASS will be demonstrating the latest 2.9 version of its integrated BASSnet Fleet Management System, released earlier this year, on its stand at SMM.
