Hong Kong: Univan Ship Management celebrated its 40th anniversary at the Hong Kong Maritime Museum on Friday.

Some 300 guests gathered at the museum to celebrate the continued growth of the ship management firm founded by Captain Vanderperre.
“Our history is an important foundation for us to build a modern quality driven ship management company, where reverence for the seafarer and safety are paramount,” said Bjorn Hojgaard, ceo of Univan Ship Management.
“At the same time we have a unique opportunity to introduce technology that can improve efficiency and reduce costs across the fleet. This way we can help the owners in the most effective way during these challenging times,” he added.
Captain Vandeperre is seen as one of the founders of the modern ship management industry.
“Captain Vanderperre was a fascinating character and his story is very much intertwined with that of the development of Univan. He also became a mentor and teacher for some of the leading global names in ship management,” said Richard Hext, chairman of Univan.
In conjunction with the 40th anniversary celebrations Seatrade published a special supplement on Univan, looking back over the last 40 years and at where the company is headed in the future.
