Bahri adds 39th VLCC with HHI newbuild
Saudi shipowner Bahri has continued to grow its fleet with the addition of 39th VLCC.
Bahri has delivery of the 300,000 dwt VLCC newbuilding Aslaf from Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI).
The latest delivery brings Bahri’s VLCC fleet to 39 and is the third newbuild delivered by HHI this year. The Saudi owner has a further seven VLCCs on order.
“This addition is part of Bahri’s plan to continue to improve its operational excellence and commercial flexibility and maintain its status as a first-class owner and operator ensuring maximum customer satisfaction,” said Ali Al-Harbi, acting ceo of Bahri.
Future VLCC newbuilding orders by Bahri will come at a new joint venture mega-yard in Saudi to be built operated by a joint venture where Bahri joins Saudi Aramco, HHI and Lamprell. Under the joint venture Bahri will agree to purchase not less than 75% of its vessel requirements over the next 10 years for 52 newbuilds including VLCCs.
The latest newbuilding brings Bahri’s total fleet size to 86.
