BMS United Bunkers to merge with International Bunker Services

BMS United Bunkers Group will merge with International Bunker Services (IBS) from 1 May 2016, expanding their global reach.

Lars Nielsen, executive group director of BMS United Bunkers, said the company has been on the lookout for a partner to strengthen its position especially in key areas in Asia.

“We expect a lot of synergies from this union, not only in respect of offering more efficient and economical solutions to our clients, but also from bringing more volume to our suppliers and enhancing our operational efficiency,” Nielsen said.

Rong Zhou, managing director of IBS, commented: “I am of the strong belief that we have found the perfect partner who will allow us to continue our strong focus in the (Asian) region, as well as supporting our customers for their global business.”

IBS has presence in major Asian bunkering ports while BMS United Bunkers has operations in Greece, Cyprus, Argentina, Far East Russia as well as in the Asian markets of Hong Kong, Singapore, China and Indonesia.
