Contship Italia in MoU with Iranian port operator SPMCO
Against the backdrop of improving relationships between western nations and Iran, Contship Italia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on strategic cooperation with Iranian port operator Sina Port & Marine Company (SPMCO).
SPMCO is Iran’s biggest port operator and listed on the Tehran Stock Exchange and the MoU was also signed on behalf of Eurogate by Contship.
The agreement covers cooperation in the Iran’s ports and logistic development, with a specific focus on the ports of Bandar Abbas and Bushehr, currently managed by SPMCO, as well as their related inland terminals.
It will also exchange experiences in the upgrading of technical, commercial and operational capabilities to the best international standards and practices and support for the definition of container terminal business plans.
“This MoU represents a great opportunity and milestone for the involved countries in this historical period marked by a new level of economic cooperation and political relationships," Contship said in a statement.
