Cosco International Holdings Limited has proposed to change its name to Cosco Shipping International (Hong Kong) Co to reflect the company’s future strategic positioning.

Hong Kong-listed Cosco International is a unit of China Cosco Shipping Corporation Limited (Cosco Shipping) formed from the merger of China Cosco Group and China Shipping Group.

“The company will continue to focus on the development of shipping services industrial cluster, which can offer strong supporting services for shipping with independent profit drivers, aiming to become a world class and the best shipping services company in China,” Cosco International stated.

The company added that the proposed change of name will not affect any of the rights of the shareholders.

Several other units of Cosco Shipping had earlier proposed a change of company name as well, including its oil shipping operator, port and terminal operator, bulk carrier operator, and financial service provider.
