Salvors prepare to remove fuel from damaged Lysblink Seaways
The Lysblink Seaways which grounded off Scotland last week, dragged anchor on Sunday in high winds before the vessel was towed back out to sea by salvors.
The DFDS general cargoship ran aground on 18 February and Kilchoan, Ardnamurchan Peninsula, and self-refloated two days later.
The vessel drag her anchor in high winds on Sunday morning. The Lysblink Seaways was then towed back out to sea and anchored 1.5 miles east of Kilchoan in Mingary Bay.
“Salvors are making final preparatory for the transfer of fuel oil from the damaged tank to other internal tanks on board the vessel,” the UK Maritime & Coastguard Agency said on Sunday. “This fuel will be removed from the Lysblink Seaways when the weather improves. This work will need to be completed before the vessel can be towed away from the area for repair.”
High winds are forecast to continue in the area until Tuesday.
