Seadrill bags $319m in contracts

Seadrill has secured four new contracts and one contract extension for its jack-up rigs, with a total value around $319m.

West Tucana has secured a $168m contract in Angola with Chevron for two years starting after the end of its current Vietnamese deployment in November this year. The West Telesto will also depart Vietnam in the fourth quarter, bound for Australia on a contract with Origin Energy Limited.

Rounding off the Vietnam exodus, West Ariel will leave for the in May and a contract with ENI Congo for 12 months with a 12 month option. Staying in Vietnam will be the West Prospero which has secured a contract with JVPC for one well, expected to last 40 days.

Eni Congo has also extended the charter of the West Mischief for four more months with an increased day rate, worth $24m.

The latest contracts brings jack-up contract coverage to 92% for 2014 and 64% for 2015. The jack-up fleet's total order backlog is $4.4bn.
