Singapore shipbroking veteran Chris Jones joins HFW
Singapore shipbroking veteran Chris Jones is join lawyers HFW as a consultant following a brief 'retirement' from the industry.
Jones whose last job was as the head of the Baltic Exchange in Asia, which he left in February, has been part of the Lion City's shipping community since 1982. He will join HFW's Singapore office on Thursday.
Toby Stephens, Singapore Head of Shipping and APAC Head of Admiralty and Crisis Management, HFW: "Based in Singapore since 1982, Chris has a wealth of experience in the shipping industry and Asia. He is one of the leading figures in the Singapore shipping community.
“Our Singapore office handles, on average, 200-250 ship closings a year; Chris's experience will further strengthen our dedicated offering in this space.”
Jones, commented: "Since I retired in February, I have really missed the shipping industry – a little to my surprise, as I had been eagerly anticipating frequent holidays and regular rounds of golf!
“I am therefore truly delighted to begin working with such a prestigious firm as HFW. I am very much looking forward to continuing to play a part in this fascinating sector that has been such a large part of my life for so long."
Jones was on the judging panel for the Seatrade Maritime Awards Asia 2019.
